Introduction
Yo, what’s up guys? This is David Hoang from supplementsuperhero.com and in today’s video I’m going to be doing a review of the Flat Belly Diet.
I’m going to be exposing Liz Vaccariello and Cynthia Sass and just kind of talking about my personal opinions about the diet.
Let’s get into it guys. Before that, I’m going to take off my glasses because there is a blue glare that you could see through these glasses. Let’s take those off.
What is the Flat Belly Diet?
Alright. It’s based on a book by Liz and Cynthia, and it’s a diet that’s become fairly popular.
Basically they claim that you can lose up to 15 pounds in 32 days. Very bold claim, but something that I think there’s some sound reasoning behind.
Now, it’s very similar to the keto diet in that it’s based around eating good fats and essentially looking at calories. The diet essentially suggests eating about 400 calories per meal up to four times per day.
Basically, you don’t wait any more than four hours between those meals. A meal every four hours, four times per day, and every meal has to contain monounsaturated fats, which are the healthy kind of fats.
Essentially, the first four days of the diet’s really strict.
You can’t eat salt, you can’t eat processed foods, no foods that are going to cause any sort of bloating and gas, no carbs.
Those first four days, they suggest about 1200 calories per day roughly. Also, what’s pretty unique is you drink two liters of, what they call, Sassy Water. It consists of cucumbers, ginger root, lemon, and mint leaves.
Then after those four days are done, you have a lot more flexibility in your diet in general. You can generally have up to 1600 calories per day and you eat more of a Mediterranean diet style.
My phone was ringing so I’m putting it in my pocket right now. Rule number one…and don’t have your phone out when you’re shooting a video.
Flat Belly Diet Benefits
That’s basically the gist of the whole diet. I would say there’s a couple of good things to highlight about the diet.
I would say, number one, it promotes an overall nice healthy eating style after the first four days.
The four days are pretty restrictive, but after that it promotes a really essentially a Mediterranean-type diet style. You’ve got some flexibility. You’re essentially eating really healthy, which I think is really good long-term.
Also, depending on your diet style, or I shouldn’t say diet style, but essentially your body type, how big you are, body mass, all that good stuff, body fat percentage, it’s certainly really possible to lose 15 pounds within 32 days.
As long as you’re really strict with your eating, as long as you’re really disciplined, I think it really is possible to lose 15 pounds in 32 days depending on your body type.
Also, I think the including of the Sassy Water is really cool. It gives a really unique spin to the diet and I think it’s something that might help out.
They say that eating ginger, in general, is really good for you. Adding lemon can be really, really good for you when it comes to weight loss, when it comes to burning fat. I think there’s some science behind it.
Obviously, you’re not going to lose tons just by drinking Sassy Water, but I think it’s a really cool, unique addition that will help and it’s a good habit to get into drinking those kind of additives with water.
I’m getting all messed up with this video, man. That’s why we do it raw and live here at Supplement Superhero.
Disadvantages of the Flat Belly Diet
There are some cons to the diets and disadvantages to the diet.
Number one, it does recommend… It’s kind of weird because in the first four days, they do recommend cutting out foods that do cause bloating and it does recommend cutting out beans and broccoli, which is a little weird.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having broccoli. In fact, broccoli’s really, really good for you if you’re looking to lose weight, so that’s a little weird. I think that’s a little off…really unnecessary.
Also, the frequency of eating for some people might be too much.
Eating four meals a day and having four hours in between meals might be a little bit too much for some, especially if you’re on hectic schedule and you don’t really want to keep track of your eating frequency that much.
For some, that might be too much. For some, that’s a perfect amount. Just depends on you.
Also, the first four days might be a little bit too intense for some. In my opinion, I don’t think it’s really that intense, eating 1200 calories a day.
Again, depends on your body type, but it might be a little too intense for some to handle, but I think that for people like me it’s not a problem at all, but for some people…might be a little too intense.
Also, the fact that 15 pounds in 32 days…it might be a little too unrealistic for some. It might give certain people too unrealistic of an expectation.
Again, for really, really heavier people, I think that losing 15 pounds in 32 days is really realistic. The lighter you get, 15 pounds in 32 days might be borderline dangerous.
It does depend on your overall body style, so I don’t think you should get discouraged or get your hopes up too high in regards to that 15 pounds in 32 days. Right?
Then of course, last but not least, for smaller people, definitely you might not lose a whole lot of weight in the first 32 days just by following the diet.
It might not be enough to shed unwanted belly fat. It might not be enough to lose 15 pounds in 32 days.
Of course, the question you’ve got to ask yourself is, do you really want to lose 15 pounds in 32 days? You want to be mindful of that. You want to be mindful of your body type.
