Introduction
Hey, what’s up guys? Today I’m going to be doing a review of the Engine 2 Diet and why it could help you destroy cholesterol.
So, if you’re not familiar with the Engine 2 diet guys, it’s basically a diet that was invented by this firefighter named Rip Esselstyn.
And, basically his coworker was struggling with cholesterol and basically he helped basically document this journey that he had with his coworker in terms of helping them formulate a plan and a diet and a plan of attack in terms of helping his coworker lower cholesterol.
How does the Engine 2 Diet work?
And, he actually documented it in his bestselling book called The Engine 2 Diet, but basically the diets like really, really heavily plant-based.
Okay. It gets rid of fish, meat, egg, dairy, processed foods, and essentially you can consider it like a vegetarian or essentially a vegan diet plan.
And, in the book he outlines some specific steps, specific recommendations, in the form of a diet plan that you can follow.
There’s essentially two 28 diet plans in the book. One, the fire cadet, which is more of a gradual diet and then the firefighter, which is more of an intense diet.
He also recommends exercising five days per week.
Benefits of the Engine 2 Diet
So, in terms of the benefits of the Engine 2 Diet, and I said it in the title of the video, but basically it’s super, super, super healthy for you.
So, think about it like if you’re eliminating all those processed foods, a lot of the meats out there, the beef, the steaks, all that good stuff that you can get at McDonald’s.
Basically, you don’t have to worry about getting bad fats, you don’t have to worry about getting like all the sodium that’s in processed foods. A lot of the preservatives.
And of course, there’s minimum cholesterol and what that means is you don’t have to worry about cholesterol levels, which is great.
It’s something that could seriously, really help you out, really. I think help you live longer in my opinion.
Also, there’s amazing long-term benefits. I mean you’re talking about living a lifestyle and eating foods that are really going to help you fight off and even help get rid of diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, maybe even prevent you from getting a stroke, fight off heart disease because you’re eating just like really, really super healthy food.
And of course, number three: you’re definitely going to lose some weight on this diet because, it’s so plant-based.
Okay. Not heavy. You’re not eating tons of heavy food. You have a lower level of caloric intake and the macronutrient ratio that you’re going to get in your everyday diet is just going to be insane.
So, I mean, the thing is, it’s inevitable that you’re going to lose weight with the diet, especially if you’re exercising too.
Engine 2 Diet Disadvantages
Now, there are some large disadvantages to this diet that you do want to be mindful of the Engine 2 Diet.
Number one, it’s going to be very, very, very hard for a lot of people, just in general. Essentially living a vegan-based diet is tough.
It’s hard for a lot of people for a lot of reasons. A lot of people love meat. A lot of people are so ingrained in this meat culture we have and the lifestyle that they have.
Most people who get on, a lot of people who try a vegetarian diet or a vegan-based diet, for the ethics for the health benefit…just have a hard time maintaining it because there’s so many good foods out there that are animal-based.
Number two, the thing is, you’ve got to be resourceful when it comes to getting nutrients in your diet because generally speaking, this type of diet’s really healthy for you.
But, there’s also a lot of great nutrients that we get from animal-based products. So things like protein, things like your iron, and things like vitamin B12, calcium, omega three fatty acids.
Those are things that can be hard to get. So you’ve either got to supplement it or really try to find those foods that contain those macronutrients that are going to support you because things like iron and protein, they’re super important for you.
Okay. And then number three. Last but not least, for those of you who are looking to build muscle and burn fat, it’s going to be a bit tough to do.
I mean, it might be easy to burn fat on this diet, but in terms of building nice healthy, lean muscle that could potentially be hard to do with this diet.
So, I mean especially for a lot of you guys who want to get the big biceps, big triceps, big arms, so on and so forth.
It’s going to take a little bit more work on your part because you can’t be eating, like, chicken breasts. You can’t be eating fish, unfortunately, with this diet.
